Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre
Canterbury-Bankstown Council
Revesby NSW, in Darug and Eora country
Program 2020 - 2024
$55.4M contract value
WRA has been engaged by Canterbury-Bankstown Council as Principal Architect to redevelop the aquatic centre to replace the indoor swimming pool and new fitness and wellness facilities, as well as better connecting the facilities with a new outdoor pool and children’s play pool. Improving the relationship of the building with the wider sports reserve site is a key objective of the development.
Council adopted a 10 year strategic plan to redevelop and expand leisure and aquatic facilities in the LGA. An audit of the Max Parker Leisure and Aquatic Centre found the facilities to be at end of life, with the majority non-compliant to current standards.
WRA was engaged to design and deliver two redevelopment projects - Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre and this site - with our team partnering with local studio, Kennedy Associates to ensure a strong local appreciation and presence.
Key objectives for MPLAC include improving accessibility throughout the site, better integrating the centre with its surrounds and introducing new facilities to enhance health and well-being outcomes for the community.
The redevelopment comprises:
Outdoor pool
Outdoor water play area
Indoor 25m pool
Indoor warm water program pool
New multi-purpose fitness and allied health facilities
Reconfigured facility entry, carparking and landscaping connections to the wider sports reserve.
